From summer days at our local lido, to jumping into freezing rivers in France, to swimming lessons with Mrs Skirton, I’ve always wanted to be in water.
As I’ve got older, I’ve learned to appreciate the calm and tranquillity of water; the way cold, natural water heightens your senses and makes you feel truly in the world; the way it levels us all, indiscriminate of age, sex or physical prowess. I have also rediscovered my love of swimming, the technicality of my stroke and the health and fitness benefits.
I’m a copy writer and a swimming teacher, working for a rather wonderful baby and toddler swim school called Water Babies. Teaching babies has taught me about the holistic benefits of swimming for health, wellness, fitness, and emotional and physical development.
This blog brings together my love of writing, and swimming, nature, feminism and motherhood.
